ZenTri 618 - Pro Triathlete Brad Williams and Galveston 70.3 Part 1

This episode of ZenTri features an interview with pro triathlete Brad Williams, your moment of Zen, audio from Galveston 70.3, music, and barefoot running audio.

And as promised, fast forward to 4:25:00 in this video of Ironman South Africa and check out Jodie Swallow wrecking on the bike.  Ouch!  Was it the rotor wash from the helicopter?  Will there be new rules about how close helicopters can get?

ZenTri 586 - Justin Metzler, Endless Pools, and Weight Vest Training

The amazing (and TALL!) Justin Metzler joins us to talk about being a pro, Team Maverick, and his latest training and camp.

After that, we talk to Mark and Adam about Endless Pools! This commercial videodoes a great job showing one off.

We talk about how they work, what models are best for which type of customers, and what it's like swimming in one versus your local pool.  Thanks, guys!

I wrap up the show taking you training with me, a lot of which while I'm wearing a 25 lb. weight vest to run in.  It's good stuff for training for the Rocky Raccoon 50.

Enjoy and let Endless Pools and Maverick know you liked hearing about them on ZenTri!

(Helle cranking out watts on the trainer.)

As promised, here is the link to a very insightful "Ask us anything" on Slowtwitch.com with Helle and Joel.

Enjoy the show and have a great week!

Video - Guest Analyst on TRS Draft

I was honored to be selected as a guest analyst during the TRS Draft on Saturday.  My quoteable moment seems to be, "All aero, all the time."  You can't tell from the video, but my legs are shaving themselves while I'm talking.

I enjoy TheRealStarky because I feel that triathlon can be an incredibly selfish sport.  We need to be mocked as much as possible so we don't take ourselves too seriously.  When you can, quit working out so damn much and kick back and relax and enjoy your friends and family, if you still have any left. ;)

How to Save Well Over 5 Minutes in an Ironman with Just a Couple Simple Tricks

(Black is the fastest color)

The gang over at the Specialized Wind Tunnel released a video about how moving your bottles and gear to smarter locations can save some substantial time in a race.

They calculated that their recommendations can save you 76 to 77 seconds over a 40k time trial. Ok, but what does that mean in an Ironman?

I did some quick math and figured out this adds up to nearly 6 minutes over 112 miles.  5:42 to be exact.  That's like skipping T2 entirely.  Or imagine crossing the finish line completely exhausted, then Mike Reilly says, "Just another 5 minutes to go!"

It sure would be better to be finished, right?
