Like a Jog Bra

emily_thumbnail.JPGSometimes you put others in front of yourself and find great joy in helping out. In this podcast, I pull duty as support vehicle and, like a jog bra, I'm there for my female counterpart as she engages in her athletic endevours. Join us as Kai co-hosts, I learn to love my job, and Emily reaches her limits in the Texas heat.
I'm finding that the show's followers really enjoy the short paragraph and then hyperlinked show notes, so here you go -

What to bring with you if you are bike support.

Death Wings (so hot you have to sign your life away a release form) and Rogue Dead Guy Ale at Harvey Washbanger's burger joint and laundrymat.

Emily is training for the Texas Man Oly distance race in Dallas.

There ARE more commuters on bikes these days!

Hurricane surfing. (Link to wave height and direction animation. Sometimes over 30 feet!)

24 hour triathlon racing. Yes, for real.

Voice mails about Harvey Birdman and the Employee Orientation Video.

The Chicago Triathlon.

Roman Mica's book - My Training Starts Tomorrow: The Everyman's Guide to Ironfit Swimming, Cycling, & Running.

Terry Cycling, a female-specific cycling catalog (and blog!)

How wide-weave carbon fiber isn't what it seems.

Round-up of cool triathlon vehicles.

Mango-Salmon Pasta (Whole-wheat spaghetti, mango pico de gallo, small measure of red sauce, olive oil, and salmon).

Coming soon: Sten and I will get lost backpacking in the Ozarks on the Ozark Highlands Trail!

Show ends with an audio capture of male triathletes sighting a sexy female cyclist in the wild. "Bray to tha Ho" verbage recorded for the first time known to mankind.

Capped off with very young female listener talking in Finnish. W00t!

Next week: I will be in San Diego chilling with jdub and attempting to swim with pro triathletes and survive their practice. I've been training for it!

Smells like Cow Spirit

I know a guy who does a Birthday Ride every year where the mileage equals his age. Pretty good, considering he's in his 60's and shows no sign of stopping for a long time. Turning 33 is no big feat, but celebrating the day upon a bike and reflecting on "life so far" is truly a great thing.Of course, I play a bevy of audio from a variety of sources: Erich calls in from the road, JohnnyBjork gives us a shout from Sweden, Kevin and I go rockclimbing and send the audio to Podclimber.com100_1238.JPG, and AlohaMandy phones in on the Deli Line (512-CRY-DELI) to tell us about her victory in Kentucky.

You get all the above and my usual hokey interactions with the locals while on my steel steed. Between my attempt to interview a horse about the TDF doping scandals and me fleeing the scene of an errant rock smacking a truck, I spew out my typical musings on life and living. Thanks again for being such a great audience and making my birthday so wonderful. Gracias!
